In order for any device that uses Bluetooth wireless technology to communicate, both the computer and Bluetooth device must be configured correctly with each other. This article will walk you through some of the things you will need/have before setting up your computers & phones with bluetooth gear.

The first thing that needs to be considered when purchasing new bluetooth headphones is which kind of headphone they are. In this example we will be purchasing branded bluetooth headphones from a Clothing/accessories manufacturer known as 'Headphone Jack Productions'

Most of the models we see on the market are 'tactile' or 'vibrating' headsets. These types of headsets can often be reversed and you can use these for music listening purposes or even for phone calls. (We will discuss the phone call aspect later.)

Once you have decided on which model you want to purchase, it is time to pick up your bluetooth dongle . This is essentially a small box that connects your headphone to your computer or any other place you wish to place them via bluetooth as a stand-alone device.

In this example we will be using a bluetooth dongle from a company by the name 'ConnectBlue'.

Now that you have your headphone and your bluetooth dongle, it is time to get started pairing these devices.

To get started, take the headset and remove the charging tab that is blocking the charging port of your headphone. You will also see a red light on your headset when it is charged up and you can use it.

Once you have removed the charging tab, plug in your headphone into the new bluetooth dongle device you purchased previously. In this example we are using the Dongle from ConnectBlue.

At this point, you are ready to pair your headphones with your computer. This can be done by following the steps below.
1. Power up your computer, or start whatever application or program you are using
2. Launch the ConnectBlue application on your PC or Mac . You will need to open 'Start' and then go to 'All Programs' and locate 'ConnectBlue' application

3. Once ConnectBlue is open, search for audio devices on the left hand side of the window. A new bluetooth device will show up with a triangle next to it once it receives a signal source and right-click (or press and hold) over that triangle and select 'Add Device'.

4. You will now be in the pairing menu where bluetooth devices that are paired with your computer will show up. The one you are looking for is the headphone dongle you previously used. Click on it and follow the instructions to pair your device with your computer

5. Now that pairing is done, go ahead and launch any media player or phone application of your choice

6. Once it opens, click on 'Open Preferences' or 'Settings' on your device to set it up for music output (phone call can be bypassed at this point)
